A versatile furniture piece carefully handcrafted
of dense-growth BC-mountain cedar and birch, Brodie's
uniquely designed Pull-out Futon Couch offers
welcome to friends and family or the perfect chance
to cozy up by the fireplace for the night. To pull
out, simply slide the slatted frame out using the
handles on the underside of the front log, and easily
slide the futon out into position. To put away,
simply slide the slatted frame in and set the futon
upright. Amazing!!

Carefully handcrafted with a solid BC birch table
surface, and cedar log legs, Brodie features the Rustique
Breakfast Bar. Each seat and table top is a
work of art, as Brodie likes to play with and arrange
various grains and shades of birch wood. His artistic
approach celebrates balance, and grain displays,
in colour and in texture. All surfaces are sanded
to a silky smooth finish.
Brodie recommends that the breakfast bar be placed
as near as possible to your favourite morning window.
Rise to the morning in style and in comfort.

Here, we feature the more traditional Rustique Bar Stools.
Carefully handcrafted with a solid BC birch seat,
and cedar log legs, the unique beveled-edge design
makes for comfortable seating. Custom built with
or without the bark-on birch cross rungs. An ebonized version is also available.

Here we feature the less traditional style Rustique Bar Stool. Co-designed with Peter Galonski for the 2007 Designing Vancouver Expo, this original design bar stool combines a number of innovative approaches to creating a stool that is sleek, comfortable, and displays the natural character of each individual piece of wood.
'The Brodie', as it is known, features a hand-shaped saddle-style spalted birch seat, two raven's-wing black dimensional douglas-fir legs in front and one single curving piece of yew out the back. The yew leg is joined straight through the seat where it is wedged with black walnut, and polished smooth.

This is a specialty bark-on birch Dining Chair
which Brodie built for himself. It's design was
pleasing to Brodie, however, he learned a lot about
the importance of comfort from this diner. Since
this piece, he has come to develop the open grain
backrest which makes for a very comfortable and
enjoyable sitting experience.

Each original Table & Counter top is
a work of art. Individually selected, each piece
of wood is carefully positioned in relation to each
other, maximizing strength and an overall balance
& flow of surface grain pattern & colour. These are aspects of woodcraft only available in handcrafted
work.

Hawthorn Flower & Plant Stand. With hawthorn
being known for it's medicinal properties for the
heart, it somehow seems fitting that this table,
with a uniquely joined birch table surface, would
be dedicated solely to supporting flowers & other
plants.

Specially featured here is the Rustique Rocking Chair. Uniquely designed
and handcrafted by Brodie, this rocker is in a class
of it's own. The rocker rails are uniquely fashioned
by carefully splitting a curving cedar in two. This
rare technique provides a smooth and consistent
rocking surface while exposing the dark inner grain
of the cedar wood. Balanced upon the rails, the
legs are fastened with hardwood plugs & sunken fasteners.
The chair body tilts comfortably back to facilitate
a relaxing sitting position with the backrest extending
upward to allow a comfortable head rest. The frame
of the rocking chair is made of western white cedar
mortise & tenoned at the joints, while the seat
and backrest are made with birch. The seat is laminated
to provide a smooth and comfortable surface. Make
sure to send us, by email, the dimensions of your
doorways when placing an order to make sure that
the chair can fit where you would like to have it
rest. Remember, Brodie specializes in custom tailoring
to meet the individual needs of each customer. He also looks forward to crafting a rocker with the open grain backrest. The next one could be for you!

leg rest, and a laminated birch seat. This piece
now rests in the royal quarters of King Danny and
Queen Angela.

Rustique Furniture ...the possibilities are endless. Here we have a unique End Table, specially suited to any Rustique setting. |

There are simply no words for this chair. To fashion
the legs of this Rustique Lounge Chair, Brodie has
split a curving cedar in two and fastened them opposite
each other with cross rungs between. All four legs
are crafted using one tree. As a backrest, he has
applied the 'open grain' approach, this time with
yew wood. Unique to this piece is the joinery technique,
presenting the end grain of the cross supports along
the outside face of the legs and backrest. For further
comfort and luxury, the laminated birch seat is
tailored for comfort with specialty bum prints.

Originally fashioned as a bench, Charlie and Vicki have chosen to display this spectacular piece as a coffee table in their home. Crafted from a 1-foot diameter yew tree, which was salvaged from a logging site and slowly dried over 8 years, this ‘Giant Yew’ Rustique Coffee Table has sturdy curving cedar legs, which compliment the character and girth of the giant Yew top. When milled by Brodie, the inner heartwood exposed a series of decay lines. These veins were meticulously carved out, following the natural patterns. They were then filled with an epoxy filler, pigmented black to contrast and emphasize the rich colours of the yew wood.
